California Mental Health Planning Council

The California Mental Health Planning Council is encouraging applications from persons who might be interested in filling one of several upcoming vacancies on the Council in the following categories:

1 Parent of SED Child position
1 Family Member position
1 Client position
3 Provider/Professional positions

Although there is no specific vacancy at this time for a Transition-Age Youth, anyone age 18-25 is encouraged to apply for the Client position.

The Council meets four times a year for two and a half days, including committee and full council meetings. There can be occasional conference calls between meetings, but the work is not overly burdensome. And it is a wonderful opportunity to work toward improving the mental health system. Appointments are for three years.

Applications can be downloaded from the Council's website, as well as a membership list and information about the Council's duties, committees, projects, meeting dates, and minutes. Search for California Mental Health Planning Council or go directly to their website at www.dmh.ca.gov/Mental_Health_Planning_Council/default.asp

California Director of Mental Health Dr. Stephen Mayberg usually makes appointments to the Council in December, so if you are interested please do apply soon.
